How to maximize grow with 1000 watt hps grow light?
As stated in our previous article HID, but especially 1000W HPS grow light, is the gold standard to which all other lights are compared. They produce intense light in a spectrum that fits the flowering phase very well, leading to reliable and potent yields.
The most efficient distance to keep an HID bulb above a canopy depends on the wattage of the light and your grow room conditions. You want your light close enough to provide energy to the plant, but far enough to avoid heat stress. A good rule of thumb is to make the distance between your lamp and canopy around 10cm (or 4in) per 100W.
Scrogging
Using the Screen of Green (SCROG) method works great for maximizing yields. It helps utilize every bit of light that your lamps are putting out, meaning your plants will get the most exposure and the best growth possible. It evens out the tops of the plants, so no plant receives more or less than the other.
You do it by putting a screen or net over the tops of the plants, then, after a branch has poked through by 4 inches, you horizontally tie it to the screen. You keep doing this until it forms a blanket of green. All the buds you get from this technique will be firm and juicy.
Hang Right
The idea is quite simple, really:
hang a high-output, full spectrum LED grow light or HPS light above the plants
hang a lower-output, blue-spectrum light source to the side of the plants.
The plants get most of their light from the overhead HPS grow light or LED light.
This is supplemented by the blue light source, either from an MH bulb or a cold (5500K and up) fluorescent bulb or LED equivalent (bar lights like these are excellent for this).
Increase Container Size
One obvious way to increase yield is to scale up your production. This doesn't need to involve taking on more plants than you're capable of handling. With the plants you have committed to cultivating, you may scale up the grow pot you're using to grow them. For instance, growing in an 11-litre container of soil may produce good yields. Can you afford a 20-litre container instead? With more space for the plant to grow, a bigger yield can be expected.
Harvest At The Right Time
The rule of thumb is: do not rush into it. Patience is key.
Harvesting too early means the buds have not had time to reach peak potency. Once you're past "too early", the longer you wait to harvest, the more the effects of the bud move from a speedy, energetic high to a more relaxed, narcotic high.
