How to cool grow lights in a CMH grow tent?

The grow lights competition is one of the stiffest for indoor weed growers. For you to get the best results out of your crops, you need to keep up with the latest technology and do away with the old. CMH is one of the latest grow light technologies taking the weed growing market by storm.

One of the reasons many growers are switching to CMH grow light is due their excellent PAR efficiency, which is much better than that of many other types of grow lights. Other grow light models such as HPS grow light waste too much energy, which does not help with crop growth.

Gardening in a grow tent offers a number of unique advantages to outdoor gardening, there’s fewer pests, requires less space, not as messy, and it gives you more control over the climate. However, some people may run into a heat problem when setting up their grow tent. With four walls creating an air-tight seal, grow tents naturally seem to trap thermal energy. Too much heat could have a negative effect on the growth of your plants, which is why you must address this little issue.

1. Use An Air Fan
The first thing that you can do to help decrease the temperature in a grow room without an air condition system is to use a simple air fan.

Now, an inline fan with carbon filter will help move air around, and the simple movement of air should help the air cool down in of itself. The movement of air does lead to cooling.

2. Use a Swamp Cooler
Swamp coolers, or evaporative coolers, use one of the basic principles of air conditioning to reduce the ambient temperature. When converting from a liquid to a gaseous state, substances like refrigerant and water absorb heat. In the case of a swamp cooler, a fan propels hot air through water-moistened media, evaporating the water.

3. Lights Out
Too much light can generate excessive heat. However, this won’t be the case if you’re using quality LED grow lights, as they don’t heat up. If you’re using a different type of lamp, then you’ll most likely deal with an overly hot grow tent during summer. To combat this, let the light cycle run within the cooler hours of the day. This will prevent cannabis plants from overheating. You may also use water-cooled lamps to keep the grow room cooler, especially during summer.

4. Water cooled lighting
This is way more efficient than the air-cooled mechanism discussed above and the reason is that water cooled light surprisingly reduces the need for an air-conditioning system. If you adopt this method in cooling your grow tent, you would use a reservoir and water pump and subject to the size of the reservoir you are using, you may also need to get water chillers.

The relationship between heat and your ventilation system
The reality is, temperatures are directly correlated to how effective your ventilation system is. If your marijuana grow tent doesn't have a simple ventilation system, your plants will suffer. Marijuana grow kit come with a high quality ventilation system, making this a no brainer.

If you have never set up a ventilation system before, don't worry. It is actually super simple.
